WHY WE GOT STARTED

Like most veterans leaving the service, we wanted to find somewhere to help. We wanted to make impact. We started Take the Hill Country for the following reasons:

  1. Our passion is leadership and team building because through both of these we found the most amount of life impact, for ourselves and those around us.

  2. Veteran retention at companies is tragically low. There a number of root causes, but much of this is finding a place to belong. We wanted to offer a company where veterans could employ their dynamic skillsets to the fullest in order to make major impact.

  3. Great teams have great impact. You enjoy work so much more. You are more productive. You are less likely to be angry when you get home. Great teams helps organizations, families, and the community.

  4. We feel honored to have received the leadership and team building experience that we did. We want to pass it on to others.

Why “Take the Hill country?”

We are inspired by the leadership example set by Caleb, as recorded in 14th chapter of the book of Joshua. Israel’s leaders were drawing up battle plans for each tribe but no one wanted to be assigned the Hill Country. It was full of giants. There were fortified positions. It would be costly to take. Undeterred, Caleb at the age of 85, said “Give me the Hill Country!” Instead of choosing the valley, where things were easy, he went for the challenge because he was confident that God would give him victory.

Where the greatest challenges live, there also resides the greatest opportunity.
